A large sheet of glass, lead, wood, steel

A sheet of highly reflective clear glass is broken, carefully reconstructed, and leaded. The large glass is displayed upright and consumes the reflections of the room appliquéing its broken body onto the environment. The clearness melts away and all that remains is the exaltation of the brokenness, the pattern. (2011)

Cracks from Providence Rhode Island are photographed while walking, travel- ing, and exploring; the images are then knitted together and collaged to create a continuous gestural line. Cracks are a curious thing. As we try to build, construct, and mark the land it seems that the movement and subtle shifts of the earth begin to draw on what has been created. (2010)
